Day 213
I cycled into the university today to attend a forum on end of life options for the elderly. I was probably the youngest there. Two hours isn't really enough time to do the topic justice. The only thing people agreed on was that there should be much more open discussion, in families especially - too many people hope they will go quickly and make no preparation for other circumstances. Sketching this, I found it interesting how much smaller the heads get as you move towards the front. 12 km cycle

The 'perspective' looks perfect in this. I find that making myself imagine the scene in front of me is a 'flat' pattern helps me to draw the shapes that really are in front of me rather than drawing the shapes that I think are there.

Interesting drawing and topic. It raises the subject of long periods of 'almost death' for so many people, really serious strokes and lack of control of one's life. It certainly needs more than two hours to discuss. My Mum had wanted to 'go' for about three years I think, before she died at 93. Not that her head wasn't clear and we had some fine intimate moments, but her time in an extended care unit of a rural hospital was awful (in my opinion) though she was always polite to the nurses and staff.

I like the sketch, not sure about the seminar, since we could be getting to that time of life ourselves, and with a mother as well, well I think its all abit close. Tried to put a comment on your other blog but wasnt allowed to for some reason. Do love your stories and illustrations.

I love it! I especially enjoyed seeing all the patterns and color and variety in the way the people look. You did a great job with the perspective and depth in the room too. Quite a complex drawing and so well done! As to the topic, it certainly is a difficult one. Did you learn anything that was helpful to you?
