Day 94
I managed to do a fast walk round the loop this morning - it was so nice to really stretch my legs and blow out my lungs. I didn't stop to draw but collected a few things which attracted me by their colours. I also had to buy a new sketchbook as yesterday I filled the last page - my first ever completed sketchbook. I wasn't going to get a Moleskine but there were no Daler-Rowneys of either of my preferred sizes and no other brands with thick pages. I had meant to make one but haven't had time. I like the change in page shape - not sure about the colour. 6 km walk; 3 km cycle.

The decision to draw every day and to be observant certainly makes us be attentive to very small things. It certainly enriches us to be more alert to the senses. A lovely page of drawings.
What is a moleskin?
I just use sketchbooks I buy at Officeworks or the $2 shops, but if the page gets wet, then smudges appear when they are posted on the internet!

A moleskine is a brand of sketchbook that come in different sizes. The pages don't take watercolour very well but they are thick and smooth and they open completely flat. There is a watercolour variety but I haven't seen one here. I like reasonably thick, smooth pages that don't buckle with wetting- generally something better than cardtridge paper. And I need the pages to be stitched in otherwise I would give up on every drawing and tear out the page - soon I would have no pages and no sketches either. One day I will progress out of this stage but not yet - and I do like having a little book full of 'good enough' sketches.

This is lovely. I saw a painting in a show that this reminds me of, titled "Remains of the Day" and it was a a bunch of random (but mostly natural) items arranged on a page that I assume the artist collected as she went through her day. I'm going to do something similar one of these days.
