Day 45
I cycled through the suburb of Redhill, looking over high hedges into enormous gardens. Many of these gardens are watered from private bores which until recently were neither limited in number nor metered. This is a section of a huge scribbly gum - the scribbles are made by a bark-boring insect. 6 km

Lovely scribbles I always think they look so interesting. I dont think we have that insect down here. I feel an awful failure when I see how far you have cycled etc. I can manage a half hour walk a day, it is all up hill but still! Should do better.
This is gorgeous. Presumably it only gets called a scribbly gum if and when the insect invades
I'm sure you're doing fine, Penny - My bike is my transport and there are bike paths everywhere so it's easy for me to do and I love the walking because it slows me down and I notice things - I have a lot of free time at the moment as my mother's care system is working well and she isn't having a medical crisis. Julie, I've never seen a scribbly gum without scribbles but it still would be a scribbly gum. I love them.
