Day 211
I set off at 10.00 today but it was a bit too late. To sketch these flowers, I had to sit in the sun where I quickly started to burn despite sunscreen, and the flies were terrible. It's much more trouble going out in the summer - I have to take sunscreen, anti insect cream, a sun hat, water, sunglasses - much easier to nip out at night in my PJ's. I have tried to grow these flowers, which grow in the hot sun on a bluff overlooking the lake - I think I probably watered mine to death. I think they are a member of the helichrysum species but can't find a picture on the Net. 17km cycle

Have the flies been bad your way too, they have just started here. Love the flowers, they do look like a helichrysum but I am not ssure, anything grey and with yellow flowers tend to be in that group.

These are interesting with their silver gray leaves (or so they appear). I'm thinking they're like some flowers we have here with soft silvery gray leaves and yellow flowers.

I like the bands of colour in this row of flowers.
You are very focussed, doing your sketches and paintings every day. I can't keep that up. I tend to do three at a time then have a break. Christmas parties are starting and yesterday I was in a fabulous house and garden. Antiques, etc. I talked to the Snitzer (or something) dog quietly and said -hey sell stuff and give to the poor! Wow - how the other half live!

Look just like some flowers we have here but as a gardening ignoramus, I've no idea what they are
